Frequently Asked Questions

No, never. This service is only available to the lawful registrant of the matching .com website address. This policy will never change.

Cloud Level will work with any cloud provider who allows its customers to use their own custom domain names. The provider must also be able to provide us with an IP address to the instance of your cloud service running on their platform. We will soon provide a curated list of available cloud providers.

No, currently this service only works with websites ending in .com. This may change at some point in the future.

All software instances require a unique namespace. Namespaces prevent naming conflicts by preventing any two files, directories, paths or other resources from having the same name. For cloud software, which is essentially website software delivered via the Internet, the namespace is provided by a unique domain name.

Yes, brand owners can create and use their own subdomains for cloud software (e.g. brand.com.cloud). In fact, due to how the domain name system was designed, this was the only way it could be done. Cloud Level changes that by allowing brand owners to license brand-first extensions for cloud software (e.g. brand.com.cloud).

Multi-cloud architecture is so important because everything a commerical institution wants to do online, it can now do by licensing cloud software.

This was not always the case. During the 1990s the only way to add functionality to a commercial website was by developing it yourself with teams of professional web developers. Naturally this was expensive and risky, as nearly half of all internally-developed website software failed due to user rejection (poor usability). Over time, those professional teams who could successfully develop user-friendly website software began to develop licensable products. And by the mid-2010s, the cloud software industry had taken off.

Every solution creates new problems. With the proliferation of so many different cloud software products, in so many different business categories, the process of selecting the right ones and integrating them requires significant technical expertise.

Companies wishing to take advantage of a multitude of good cloud software products must sort through hundreds simply to curate a workable list of viable options. They must then initiate communications with all the different sales teams, go through a vendor selection process, onboard and integrate them together into a manageable experience, and finally manage all of those vendor relationships going forward.

Over time, Cloud Level will emerge as an ideal distributor for excellent cloud software, because Cloud Level can efficently perform many of the functions now conducted by each of its business clients.

Cloud Level was created by two co-founders: John Deneen and James McGill.

John Deneen, together with his wife Caroleigh (now at SAP), created one of the first website development firms in the industry in 1994 (SurvivalNet). In 2001, he created one of the first cloud software products on the market ("Website Evolution"). It was John who first saw the opportunity for delivering cloud software via brand-first extensions, when that opportunity presented intself in 2014 (thanks to ICANN's deregulation of the domain name industry). As a pioneering website developer of 27 years, John brings enormous professional experience in website software development, user experience design and information architecture.

James McGill is a superlative individual who is capable of mastering anything. James is a naturalized immigrant, hailing from England. He has 17 years of experience in managing fine dining restaurants in Philadelphia – and 13 years of experience in managing sales for an automotive group. In 20017, James dived into cloud software and is now a certified AWS solution architect. James will lead Cloud Level's sales team.
